Testing Policy Changes at Columbia University

Our testing policies have been updated to reflect the College Board’s redesigned SAT, scheduled to launch in spring 2016 for applicants for fall 2017 admission. • The redesigned SAT will consist of 2 sections instead of 3. The previously required Writing section will now be optional and not required by Columbia.

• Students applying in fall 2017 and fall 2018 may submit scores from both SATs, but Columbia will evalute only the highest composite score, meaning we will not “super score” across both versions.

• To be consistent with our SAT requirement, starting with applicants for fall 2017, Columbia will no longer require the Writing portion of the ACT Assessment.
