About Hsinchu International School

Founded in 1981 by the present Head of School, HIS is a fully-licensed, independent international school that provides quality Pre K-12 education to children of foreign nationals in the "Silicon Valley" of Taiwan. While the school's elementary department has nearly 30 years of history, its budding secondary department graduated its first class in June 2009.

Originally established and supported for seven years as Hsinchu Holland International School by a Dutch multinational company, the school became Taiwan's first independent international school in 1988. HIS continues to offer a complete American college preparatory curriculum to the increasing number of expatriate families living and working in the Hsinchu area. We are an official WASC (Western Association for Schools and Colleges) accredited school and our high school diplomas are recognized by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan.
