TCU to offer Early Decision

Post date: Oct 2, 2013 4:31:49 AM

Texas Christian University will offer Early Decision this application cycle. TCU will use Early Decision to identify students whose first choice is TCU, and who are able to make the commitment to attend should we offer them admission. Any Early Decision candidate requesting financial aid must submit the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE by November 15 in order for the admission application to be considered complete. Unlike most colleges with Early Decision, however, we will continue to offer our popular Early Action option. This enables students to learn of a decision fairly early in their senior year, while still having the option to consider decisions from other colleges before depositing. For more information about the admission process, please visit http://admissions.tcu.edu/.

Note also that we have eliminated our mid-December scholarship deadline for freshmen. Now, every student – regardless of when an application is submitted – will be considered for academic scholarships. We believe this will alleviate confusion on the part of some students.

The very strongest applicants for admission are considered for our full-tuition Chancellor’s Scholarship. Because the Chancellor’s Scholars interview weekend occurs in early February (they can interview by Skype), your top students should apply early in our process to give themselves optimal consideration. Whether that means applying Early Action, Early Decision, or simply well in advance of the Regular Decision deadline is up to them, but our recommendation would be no later than December 1.
