New and Innovative Programs at Tulane University

For the upcoming year, in addition to Tulane's online application, Tulane has joined the Common Application.

New and Innovative Programs

The new interdisciplinary minor in Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship(SISE) provides civically engaged students with the skills and resources to start their own businesses and create new models of social change. The program has tripled enrollment in only three years.

In addition to the 5-year Architecture Program, we now also offer a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture. This pre-professional degree offers an integrated curriculum in the liberal arts and architecture designed to promote an understanding of design as a cultural expression while providing a strong preparation for graduate professional study in architecture or an array of other potential career paths.

Students now have another opportunity to get hands-on experience in the non-profit sector in our unique service-learning course “Philanthropy and Social Change.” Students in this class, which is part of the School of Liberal Arts new Management Minor (SLAMM), are tasked with selecting five family- and education-based organizations in the New Orleans area and investing $50,000 of real money over the course of the semester.

New Additions to Campus

IThe Howard-Tilton Memorial Library is currently undergoing major renovation to add two new floors to the top of the building. These new floors will house valuable library collections that were damaged ten years ago during Hurricane Katrina.

When completed, the new Tulane Maker Space will be open 24/7 to allow students from all academic backgrounds access to state-of-the-art technology and construction tools. They will also be able to use the space to work on prototypes, create business plans, and manufacture their own designs and products.

Making College Affordable

We understand the costs associated with higher education are a top concern for many families. Here at Tulane, we offer both merit-based and need-based aid to help defray those costs.

Our merit scholarships range from $10,000 to the total cost of attendance.

  • Deans' Honor Scholarship – A project-based, full tuition scholarship (approximately 75 awarded annually)

  • Paul Tulane Award – An essay-based full tuition scholarship (approximately 50 awarded annually)

  • Stamps Leadership Award – A total cost award covering tuition, room, meal plan, and an enrichment fund for costs associated with studying abroad, research, and national conferences. Recipients are chosen from among the applicants for the Deans' Honor Scholarship (approximately five awarded annually)

  • Community Service Fellowship – A fellowship program and $20,000 yearly award that recognizes Tulane's newest group of student service leaders (approximately 15 awarded annually)

  • Partial-Tuition Merit scholarships – Any student applying to Tulane will be automatically considered for partial merit scholarships valued from $10,000-$32,000 per year.

  • Global Scholarship – A full tuition award available for international students with outstanding academic records. Nominations are made by the admission committee, and candidates will be invited to participate in a Skype interview in the spring.

We also subsidize the cost of attendance through need-based aid in the form of grants, loans, and work study options. Students must submit the FAFSA to be considered for federal financial aid and the CSS Profile in order to be considered for Tulane-sponsored need-based aid. Last year, the average package for students with demonstrated need was over $39,000.

  • NOLA (No-Loan Assistance program)

  • As part of our commitment to making Tulane a financial possibility for qualified students from all backgrounds, we offer a no-loan tuition program called NOLA for families earning an adjusted annual income of $75,000 or less. In order to qualify, families must also submit both the FAFSA and CSS Profile to Tulane byFebruary 15, 2016.
