Welcome to the start of the new school year! I am very excited about some changes to our programming that I hope will better serve our students. New this year is the HIS College Counseling Handbook. The Handbook lists all the policies of the school regarding all matters related to college and career counseling, as well as timelines and checklists for G11 and G12 students. Hard copies are also available in the office. I encourage you to take a look.
G12 and G11 students have been asked to sign a contract which outlines both of our responsibilities. The contract also requires a parent's signature, and needs to be turned in next wee in order to receive class credit.
The Moodle page for each class contains the course syllabus as well as other detailed class information and assignments. If you haven't already, please join the HIS College Counseling Google Groups, which serves as a email list of upcoming events and announcements.
Finally, in September we have a number of colleges and universities visiting our school to make presentations. Next week we will have the prestigious liberal arts colleges: Reed College, St. Olaf, Colorado College, Colgate University, and Claremont McKenna. We have also been invited to attend a presentation for Skidmore College at IBSH. If students are interested in attending, they must fill out the College Visit Permission Form at if they will miss class in order to attend.
A calendar of upcoming visits and more information is available at this website. As always, if you have any questions, please contact me. I am available for appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
